To Write Dissertation, or Not to Write Dissertation?

It is interesting how writing can be easy when it is not your dissertation you are writing. My deadline is in 2 weeks and I still have half way to go. But it is so much nicer to talk about my problems than actually deal with them.

While I was writing first half of my dissertation I had this awesome system, which allowed me to watch one episode of Friends and then write for 45 minutes. It worked great. I finished around 4000 words in like 5 days. Now I have started watching Charmed, but I’m afraid it is not going to work as well as before…

Not to mention I have other things on my mind that I prefer focusing on, rather than researching queer theory and gender performativity in faux queens. Not that those are not interesting! I love my dissertation. Faux queens are intriguing and rare, the topic I have chosen is incredibly interesting and feministic, and I get a chance to research clothes and make up. Perfect for me!

And I might be more into it if it weren’t for my work and two knitting projects that I am currently involved in.

I recently bought Knit Now and found this cutest pattern for a cowl, which I am now teaching myself how to make so that I can give it as a gift to one of my housemates. Lucky me she likes knitting stuff that I make and always asks me to knit her a gift for her birthday or Christmas. That way I don’t spend much money, I get to try out new pattern and she gets what she wants. Win win.

At the same time, I am working on the new project for my shop Call It a Fairytale. AND making plans for a photoshoot for one of the things I have already made. Which means I will soon have at least one more thing to present on my page. Woohoo! I know I am being so slow with making this shop more presentable, but I guess I just want everything to be perfect and I am knitting mostly because it relaxes me and it makes me happy. Fulfilling my dreams by opening a shop like I always wanted to, is just a bonus. Hopefully one day it will be as good as I imagined it to be. Until then, I am quite happy with what I made it to be so far.

Also, I am so thinking of taking up crocheting as well! While I was looking thorough different books with knitting patterns, I have found the most amazing one with the most beautiful crochet patterns. I can’t afford it at the moment, but my next month’s pay is so going to be spent on it! And I will need to learn how to do that as well, but it is going to be so worth it. I used to know how to do it, though it has been years since then. My grandmother was the one who thought me how to crochet. I think I was actually 6 or 7 at that time. And around that time was probably the last time I have done it as well… Funny how some things, that you almost forgot you ever knew, come to affect your life so many years later.

So now that I am done putting my current life affairs on the virtual paper, I might be ready to read some Feminist Perspectives on Trans Issues.

Or maybe watch just one more episode of Charmed?…
